Ginger-Cilantro "Greenery" Smoothie Recipe

Did you know the Color of the Year for 2017 is Greenery? The honor is bestowed on a lucky color each year by Pantone, LLC, the authority on color and color matching systems that span the industries of design, manufacturing, fashion and business. The executive director of the Pantone Color Institute says this about Greenery (#15-0343): "Satisfying our growing desire to rejuvenate and revitalize, Greenery symbolizes the reconnection we seek with nature, one another and a larger purpose." I love it. And, I love the color!

In honor of our Color of the Year, I offer you an invigorating, revitalizing and delicious "greenery" smoothie. A great way to start the day. We all need a little more "greenery" in our lives!

About the ingredients: Cilantro is an herb that is known to remove heavy metals such as mercury from the body. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Lemon has lots of vitamin C, and pineapple has beneficial digestive enzymes. Cucumber contains minerals such as potassium and magnesium, and spinach provides iron, B vitamins and fiber. Add the antioxidant properties of green tea, and you have a powerhouse of nutrients plus taste all in one glass!

Here's the Recipe. Enjoy!

1/2 cucumber, peeled and chopped
1 cup fresh spinach leaves (or other green like Romaine)
1 cup fresh cilantro leaves
Juice of 1 lemon
1 cup cooled green tea
1 inch piece of fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
3/4 cup pineapple (about 10-12 chunks)

Put all ingredients in a blender and blend until liquified.
